Power Requirements
The HELIX 12 MEGA SI+ G4N runs on 10–20V DC. At 12V it draws approximately 3.5A with MEGA Side Imaging active. Run a dedicated 10 AWG circuit with a 10A fuse from your main battery — do not share the circuit with livewell pumps, bilge pumps, or other high-load accessories. The Ethernet port draws no additional current beyond the display.
Transducer Installation
The included XNT 9 MEGA SI 180 T transom-mount transducer requires a flat, parallel-to-waterline mounting surface. Angle matters significantly with MEGA Side Imaging — even 2–3° of tilt causes the side beams to image one side shallower than the other. Use a wedge block if your transom has deadrise. Route the cable through conduit or cable channels; avoid running it adjacent to alternator wiring.
MEGA Live Imaging Compatibility
To run MEGA Live forward-scanning live sonar, you’ll need the Humminbird MEGA Live Imaging transducer (sold separately). The HELIX 12 MEGA SI+ G4N supports MEGA Live via the built-in Ethernet port — no additional black box or module required. The MEGA Live transducer mounts to the trolling motor shaft and requires the Minn Kota Terrova or Ultrex motor with integrated sonar cable for clean routing.
AutoChart Live Integration
AutoChart Live creates custom depth maps in real time as you fish, storing data to the built-in 32GB internal storage (no SD card required for mapping). Depth data syncs to the Humminbird app via Wi-Fi and can be shared across HELIX and SOLIX units on the same boat via Ethernet. Compatible with Minn Kota i-Pilot Link for GPS route and Spot-Lock synchronization.
NMEA 2000 & Networking
The HELIX 12 MEGA SI+ G4N supports both NMEA 2000 and Humminbird Ethernet networking. Use the Humminbird AS EC QDE Ethernet cable to daisy-chain a second HELIX or SOLIX display for shared sonar/GPS data. NMEA 2000 integration enables depth, speed, and water temperature sharing with compatible autopilots, VHF radios, and engine management systems.

Rigging Notes from Our Techs
- MEGA Live setup: The MEGA Live transducer needs its own cable run from the trolling motor to the display — don’t route it through the same conduit as your main sonar cable. Cross-talk between cables causes interference artifacts on the MEGA Live image.
- AutoChart Live tip: Set your boat speed between 3–6 mph when creating custom maps. Speeds above 8 mph reduce MEGA Side Imaging beam quality and produce less accurate depth contours.
- Side Imaging range: Start at 100 ft SI range when learning the unit. Deeper ranges (200–500 ft) require slower boat speeds for clean returns — pushing 15+ mph at 500 ft range produces a blurry image.
- Ethernet daisy chain: Use the Humminbird AS EC QDE cable only — third-party Ethernet cables with standard RJ45 connectors can cause intermittent dropouts on the Humminbird proprietary Ethernet protocol.
